Location

La Serre (The Ridge) is situated in the deep South West of France between the Mediterranean and Toulouse. It is approximately 4 miles east of Villefranche de Lauragais, just off the A61 motorway, 25 miles south east of Toulouse, on the border of the Regions Languedoc and the Midi-Pyrenees.

Air

The nearest airport is Toulouse (Blagnac) to the West of the city, around a 45 minute drive to the house. There are several other smaller airports served by UK airlines.

Airlines that serve the area include British European, EasyJet, Air France, British Midlands, and Ryan Air.

There are four airports within a 2 hour drive Toulouse Blagnac (45 mins), Carcassonne (30 mins), Montpellier (1.5 hours) and Perpignan (2 hours).

Car Hire

Most of the major rental agencies are at Toulouse airport and Carcassonne including Avis, Hertz and Budget.

Train

Toulouse's Matibaux Station is a 6 hour journey on the TGV trains from Paris, which in turn is around a 2.5 hour journey from London. French Rail is inexpensive & comfortable, and if you are under 25 then all French rail tickets are 1/2 price. From Toulouse station you can arrange car hire or continue on your train journey to Villefranche de Lauragais. Trains depart hourly from Toulouse, though not after 7pm.

Barcelona is a 5 hour train trip South across the Pyrenees.

Ferry

It is a 36 hour journey to the Spanish port of Bilbao & then a car or train over the Pyrenees that may take up to 4 hours. P&O Stenna Line and Brittany Ferries both serve Bilbao from the UK and the Southern coast of Ireland.
